Message an odd modification. What do you gain by reducing the throw? It isn't like the Z has a shift throw like an 18 wheeler. Who is going to see you moving the shifter a shorter distance and say "wow, you have it made with that short shifter!" Is it a lazy upgrade? Just cant stand to move the shifter a little more from gear to gear? For realz?

I can tell you what people will notice - you missing shifts and looking like an amateur. They'll also make statements like, "If you cant find it, grind it", or, "grind me off a pound or two while you're at it."

Really, what is wrong with the stock shifter, or better yet, why is a short shifter more desirable?
